Thanksgiving in Germany

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving with our new German friends in our neighborhood.  It was fun introducing them to our American holiday.  The deep fried turkey was the big hit!  The hubby did a really good job this year!  Good thing we made two, both were gobbled up!

This year I made some Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Garlic Aioli, a Pumpkin Butter and Pecan Baked Brie, Roasted Butternut Squash with Cranberries and Feta, Fresh Green Bean Casserole with Mushrooms, Crockpot Mashed Potatoes, Cajun Butter Deep Fried Turkey, Pumpkin Pie, Pecan Pie, Buttermilk Pie, Apple Crumble Pie, and a Chocolate Meringue Pie.

Besides all the cooking and baking and frying...we had a pretty low key day.  Played around with the kiddos, watched movies, and just enjoyed the day.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving too!

November's Funny Friday

So here's the deal and how it works....Funny Friday, is a regular feature published on the last Friday of every month. Funny Friday is a collaborative project.  Each month one of the participants submits a picture, then we all write 5 captions or thoughts inspired by that month's picture.  Links to the other blogger's posts are below, click on them and see what they've come up with.  We hope to bring a smile to your face as you start your weekend!

Here's today's picture:

1.  Hubby cooking...says to wife, "You only wanted me to make half the spaghetti tonight, right?"
2.  Hubby cooking...says to wife, "Look at me, I'm Mario Batali." (convinced this is how the Italians make pasta).

3.  Noodles runneth over!

4. How to cook spaghetti when all the big pots are dirty... a few inches at a time.

5.  Spaghetti noodle Pick-up-Sticks, fun while you cook!

Let it Snow...

This past weekend we had our first snowfall of the year.  It wasn't much, but it was beautiful watching the snowflakes float down.  There wasn't much to play in, but the kiddos had fun.

Thanksgiving Poems

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, some of my blogger friends and I decided to put together a Thanksgiving Poetry link up together.  Check out some other creative  poems by clicking on the links below.

A few Haiku's...

Food on the table
Family gathered with love
Thanksgiving's complete.

~ C.M

The leaves are changing
There is a chill in the air
Thanksgiving is here.

~ C. M

Apple pie is great
Pumpkin pie is delicious
Pecan pie is best.

~ C.M.
Thanksgiving

Time to gather,
Time to greet,
Time to be thankful each time we meet.
Family to hug,
Family to kiss,
Family to tell how much they've been missed.
Friends who laugh,
Friends who smile,
Friends who we haven't seen in awhile.
Memories we make,
Memories we share,
Memories that last throughout the year.
Thankful to love,
Thankful to pray,
Thankful for life each and every day.
~ C. M.
