Time to go Home...

The time had come, our two weeks of vacation were up and it was time to drive back home.  It was a fun and relaxing trip, we were all sad to say our goodbyes, especially the little ones.  Most of our drive we were in and out of thunderstorms.  I hate driving in storms, a lot has to do with my friend and I hydroplaning so that our car was facing on coming traffic until we slid into a median and got stuck in the mud.  Oh it was sooooo scary!  Ever since then, driving in the rain and even snow (another scary story involving skidding off the road and almost hitting a transformer box), I get a little nervous.  Good thing I let the hubby drive.  But eventually the sun came out for awhile, so we stopped for some lunch.  We've stopped at The Mercantile on Main before and it was pretty good, so we stopped again.  We were in luck, they had a German plate on special! YUM!

I took a few cute pictures of the kiddos before we headed back out on the road.

And what do you know...more thunderstorms!

Then again...the sun finally decided to show it self and stay out for the rest of the trip.
It was a smooth drive the rest of the way.

We were sad to be away from family again, but happy to be back home.
Our kitty sure did miss us and we sure did miss our own beds!

Baking with MeeMaw

After our little trip to Austin we went back to a normal schedule living at mom's house.  Well, on this particular day, MeeMaw decided she wanted to try her hand at making cake pops for the kiddos.  It was her first time to ever make them, you think she would've had a recipe, but nope.  She thought she could figure it out.....well, probably not the best idea, but she was on the right track. I recently tried my hand at making some Watermelon Cake Pops for National Watermelon Day and they were quite easy.  At least her and Liam had a great time decorating and eating them, even if they did fall apart.

Little Camden wanted to try some too!

Another fun day at MeeMaw's, actually the last one of this visit.
We were heading back home the next day...

Good 'Ole Salt Lick

One of our favorite places to go when we go back home is in Driftwood, Texas.  Out in the middle of nowhere.  The first time we went there, we actually passed it up and had to do a U-turn.  If you haven't made the trip out to The Salt Lick, then you need to get in your car and drive as fast as you can, well within the speed limit of course, and get yourself some awesome BBQ!

I wanted to eat it ALL! And I pretty much did, since I ordered one of the combo plates!

The hubby decided to go with the BBQ chicken, which was really good too!

The first time we went to The Salt Lick it was back in 2006, right after we got married.
Now, 8 years later they have added Salt Lick Cellars right next door.
We like wine, so we moseyed on over for a wine tasting.

Loved all the flowers in bloom in the gardens.

It was nice enjoying each other's company and trying new wines.

We were stuffed which means it was another great visit!
Looking forward to our next one...whenever that will be.

Texas Time

The next couple of days we just hung out around the house, at my sister's and my mom's.  It was nice not having a schedule for awhile and just being able to relax and take it easy.  We did A LOT of watching the World Cup (as you can see, Kinley is a fan!  I taught her how to put her hands up and say "GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!"  It's so cute).  Usually when we head home we are always on a schedule....seeing friends this day, and going to dinner with family this day, the zoo/Sea World/Children's Museum this day, etc.  Don't get me wrong, I tend to live by a schedule most of the time, and it certainly comes in handy when handling the kiddos.  But I wanted this visit to be laid back for a few days, because we did have a few activities planned later in the week.  But until then, we pretty much did nothing and loved it.

Since I knew we would be in Texas right after Father's Day, I found these really cool gift packages from Man Creates.  One of my friends told me about them and I'm so happy she did.  I really liked that I could pick and choose the date I wanted them delivered.  So I set it up to deliver while were in Texas so I could give them out in person.  They are the perfect gifts for any man in your life!  I ordered a Spicy JerkyGram for my dad and the Premium Jerky Ammo Can for the hubby!  They both really liked them, and so did the rest of the family!

Well, remember that picture frame I found at Target?  I got to finally present it to my Father-in-law when we all went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse.  I had photographed the kids holding up a "P" and an "A" so they could spell out "Papa" when I put them in the frame.  It turned out really cute and he loved it of course!

We took some family pics outside before we headed back home.

The next day, we hung out with my mom and Mr. Camden.

He is starting to stand and side step.
Loves playing in the drawers...

Life is ALWAYS good at Grandma's!

Big boy loves his pickles like his momma!
(My sister used to eat SO many pickles she actually smelled like dill pickles
TRUE STORY!)

Look at those big blue eyes!
Love my little nephew!

Hanging out with family is always a great time.

San Antonio Here We Come!

A couple of weeks ago we packed up the kiddos and drove to home to San Antonio for a two week vacation to visit family and friends.  It's been awhile since we were home and with the hubby's deployment coming up, we thought it would be a good idea to spend some time with the ones we love so far away before he goes.

We are all packed up and ready to go!
It wasn't long before Kinley fell asleep.

On the road...Liam brought his Avenger figures and played while watching The Avengers.

We stopped at this little family diner for lunch.
And of course the Princess' and the Avengers had to join us.

 Kinley and her "Popeye" face.

We really enjoyed the Southern meal!

Outside the building was this beautiful mural of some famous people you might recognize...

I love Judy Garland, so I had the kiddos stand by her portrait so I could take a picture.

Our next stop was for dinner at Coopers in Junction, Texas.

We usually stop here on our way to San Antonio, it has really good BBQ even the kiddos liked it.
But I think they liked the free ice cream more!

Kinley is in that stage of "let me do it," so she loved dipping her sausage, chicken, and brisket in the BBQ sauce.  She has become a huge foodie like the hubby and I.  Always up to trying something new even if it's spicy, she goes back for more.  Liam on the other hand, is a plain Jane, sticks to the usual kid food: nuggets, burgers, hotdogs, PB&J, mac 'n cheese...however he did eat the sausage here.

Mmmmmm, look at that plate! Everything was really good!
That's why we always stop!

Time for ICE CREAM!

I think someone is excited!

Well, it was a long drive but we finally made it to my sister's house around 8:30pm-ish (we were house sitting for her while they were in Mexico). Which considering driving with two kiddos, stopping for meals, potty breaks, and snacks was pretty good.  I mean we did make it there before the sun went down.

The next day, the hubby went tubing down the river with one of his friends (if you're from SA, you know what I mean.  If not, it's a local thing to get a tube for yourself, friends, and a cooler for your adult beverage of choice then go float the Guadalupe River.  A must do if you are visiting, we used to do this every summer when we lived there!)  While he was having fun, we had plans to meet up with my mom and my nephew (she was watching him while my sis and bro-in-law were on vaca).  Like I said, little Miss is in that "I can do it" stage, so she insisted on brushing her own teeth like a big girl that morning.  Things were going good that morning...until we got to Target.

Since Camden was still taking a nap when we planned on meeting at Panera Bread, so I decided to go Target to kill some time, plus I needed to find a frame for my Father-in-law's father day gift.  Well, we were shopping along, but of course it was lunch time and the kiddos needed to eat.  Let the whining, crying and meltdowns begin!  I always pack snacks and carry a bottle of water for the kiddos just in case.  Which usually means, every time we are out and about they have to snack or as Kinley says "snacky."  So I bust out the snacks, some yogurt melts for Kinley and some fruit snacks for Liam.  But of course, Kinley is already cranky and decides to dump the snacks all over the floor.  I mean, really? C'mon.... Well, I did think of the snacks but not a container to put them in.  So since we were in Target, I thought I would just find one of those snack cups with the lid in the baby section.  I found one, opened it up, put the snacks in it, gave it to Kinley, and of course, she wanted nothing to do with it.  Wanted the lid off, and like I knew she would, dumped more snacks on the floor, which she had now gone through the whole bag and barely got to eat any.  Super Mom to the rescue (I thought to myself)......I had more snacks, Slim Jims, animal crackers, fruit snacks, grapes, pretzels...but nothing she wanted (Super Mom defeated), of course which caused melt down number two.  I hurried to the picture frame section and to my luck, they HAD the frame I was looking for.  YAY! Finally something positive out of this Target trip.  So after two melt downs, snacks all over the floor, two cranky hungry whining kids, and one picture frame we hurried to check out so we could meet my mom and nephew at Panera Bread, which they were already there waiting for us.

I'm thinking, ok lets get there already so these kiddos can eat and be back to normal.  Thank goodness Panera was in the same plaza, I just had to drive through the parking lot.  So, after I got the kiddos all buckled in and put the bags in the back, the diaper bag in the front seat, then looked for my phone so I can call my mom and let her know were are on our way....wait...where's my phone?  OMG! I LOST MY PHONE! WHERE IS MY PHONE!  In the diaper bag...nope, in one of the bags...Nope, in the shopping cart...NOPE!  OMG! Just great!

I get the kiddos back out of the car, head back into Target, all while thinking, "Mom is probably calling and I can't call her back...lost all my pictures and videos...I don't want to buy another phone..." I went to the cashier I checked out with, she didn't see it.  I went to Customer Service, no one turned it in.  We walked around and retraced our steps..one good thing, we could totally tell we were there because of all the crumbs Kinley spilled on the floor.  But, did not find it.  By then, I had given up, put the kiddos back in the car and was just going to drive to meet my mom.  But I had a feeling to look in the cart one more time, and to my surprise, it was there!  It had slid down the side, so at first glance I couldn't see it.  What a relief!  I checked it to find 2 missed calls, 1 voicemail, and 3 text messages...from mom, of course.  Texted her back..."On my way."

Well, long story short.  Met up with them, told her the story, we all ate lunch, everyone was in a much better mood the rest of the day.  Mom even brought Camden back to the house so they could play a bit.

A few hours later, a lobster, I mean my husband, walked through the door.  I couldn't believe it!  The one thing I told him not to do the first day of vacation.  "DO NOT BURN!"  He swore they applied Bullfrog Water Armor Quick Gel multiple times all over.  Well, I guess it didn't work because he was beat RED from head to toe only on his front side (the normal sunburn for tubin' all day, sad but true).  He was feeling horrible, sore, hot, and achy.  I gave him some Tylenol and applied some Aloe Vera to help soothe the heat.  Since I had had a pretty eventful day and he was feeling miserable we decided to just order pizza for dinner.

Cousins having some fun!

My hubby the Lobster!

Mmmmmm PIZZA!

Our first day of vacation did NOT go as planned, but it was great to spend time with my family.
And that's what it is all about!

Just a Hop, Skip, and an Airplane Ride Home

Well, Hello everyone! Kinley and I are back from our little vacation down to Texas to visit our family and friends.  It was great, except that we were a little sick the first few days...but other than that we had fun.  I finally got to meet and hold my new nephew, Kinley absolutely LOVED her little cousin!  We also celebrated, mine, my dad's, a friend's, and Kinley's birthdays while we were down there.  And I finally got a hair cut! Take a look at our mini vacation...
This was Kinley's 1st plane ride.
She did great, such a good traveler.

Kinley liked jumping while we cooked dinner.

When we were feeling better we headed over
to my sister's house to finally meet little man!
He is adorable and Kinley just wanted to touch him, hug him, and kiss all over him!
She also got to open her birthday present from them a little early.
She loves playing with her new Little People Playhouse!

My AWESOME birthday present from my sissy!
I think I'm ready to make some Macarons!

Hanging out at MeeMaw's & Pappaw's house,
Kinley loves the new Mickey Mouse car Meemaw bought her!

Kinley & I loved taking walks around mom's garden.

Silly little girl, playing in MeeMaw's kitchen

On that Saturday, we had a joint party for me, my dad,
a family friend, and Kinley's birthdays.
Little lady wore her special birthday dress and new gold shoes!

The Birthday Girls

Let the celebration begin!

The next day, my friends and I went to Sunday Brunch
and then to the local Farmer's Market they had set up there.
It was delish, I had the Eggs Benedict, my fave!
Then they came over to play with their God Daughter.

Monday I FINALLY got my hair chopped!
Cut about 11 inches off, which I donated to Locks of Love!

My sister and Camden came over to mom's, who was
watching Kinley for me so I could go to my hair appointment.

Kinley loves dancing to the theme song of Taratabong.

Playing with MeeMaw is so much fun!

Time for pictures!!

The week came and went too fast, then it was time for us
to board our plane back home!

Kinley enjoying her 1st donut, I think she liked it.
She ate the WHOLE thing!

We had a great visit! Can't believe it went by so fast!
Looking forward to the next one, which will probably be for Christmas!
