Witching Hour

A couple of weeks back I had the pleasure of modeling once again with my friend Kim Kelley of Kim Suzanne Images.  This time it wasn't the bubbly, colorful, whimsical photoshoot like last month.  It was the total opposite, dark, goth and magical.

I found the most perfect witch costume by CordeliaRoyle that I just had to have pictures taken in.  I showed Kim a picture and she was instantly on board!  I love dressing up and becoming a character, I think that's why I love Halloween so much!  With the dress ordered, I needed a few more items to complete my witch look.  I found this beautiful green feather shawl by Ravennixe that would add a bit of fabulous flare.  As far as jewelry went, I wanted something with more of a vintage gothic look. I found these beautiful Emerald green earrings from NouveauDreams that would be perfect.  I also had a custom made Emerald chain bracelet by Mikaylove made to add a little more color.  The Victorian BootsStriped Stockings, and Fishnet Gloves are from Amazon.  Other pieces of jewelry, my rings, necklace, and bracelet were found at a local jewelry store.  As for the broom, that is a total DIY project.  I found some sticks in a nearby forest, took some glue, rubber bands, and rope and created it.  The books are from a thrift store, the lantern is from a local grocery store.  Some of the other props Kim brought.

It was a really fun and SPOOKtacular photoshoot, even it was a bit overcast, which did add the perfect light.  And wearing a strapless dress, made for a very chilly 3 hours of modeling.  Hehe, me modeling.  Sorry, that sounds funny.  Anyways...I am so super stoked how the pictures turned out, I mean she did take almost 1,000 of them!!

Check out these wickedly awesome pictures....

Witchy Women

So, since it is October my blogger friends and I are posting up some Fall poems this month.  I love Fall, the change of the leaves, the crisp in the air, pumpkin spice everything, and of course Halloween!  Sticking with the Halloween theme, I decided to post one inspired by a recent photoshoot I was in.  Have a SPOOKtacular day!

Witches
Witches that cackle, tackle
with brews, spells, lotions, potions
for the sexes, hexes
with eye of newt, mummy's toe, bat wings, things
mixed together boil and bubble, trouble
witches on the prowl, growl
black cats with eerie eyes, flies
on broomsticks in the air, hair
stringy, long, black and grayed, frayed
black dresses, stockings, and hat, flat
black shoes with rusted buckles, chuckles
the witches about the lies, cries
of terrified children in their beds, heads
must roll from the witches, bitches
of Hell, daughters of Satan, waitin'
to cast their evil spirits out, shout
the townspeople "Thou shall hang them", Salem
known for witchcraft, soon vanished, punished
by death, drowned, hung, feathered, burned......Earned.

Sweet Toothed Vampires

The moon is full, it's Halloween night.
The vampires are out, looking for a bite.

They roam the roads, searching high and low.
For anyone, anything, with a little blood flow.

Grins on their faces, hair slicked back.
They're hunting for life, all dressed in black.

They entered a hood, with trees all around.
Witches in windows, and pumpkins on the ground.

Little ghosts and goblins, crowd the streets.
Ringing door bells, and asking "Trick-or-Treat?"

The vampires wonder, who or what are these?
That go around houses, saying "thank you" and "please"?

"They must have some blood." One vampires did say.
So they gathered together, and headed their way.

They surrounded a group, circled them in.
Another vampire did say, "Let the feast begin!"

They licked their lips, their eyes popped out.
Their fangs did shine, then the skeleton did shout.

"Don't drink our blood, and leave us for dead.
Have some candy, as a treat instead."

So the cat gave them a piece, of a Lifesaver gummy.
To the vampire's surprise, it was actually yummy.

The vampires liked it, and wanted some more.
So the kids tilted their bags, till the candy did pour.

The ate piece by piece, till they were done.
Then said their good-byes, and had to run.

They left in a hurry, not wanting to leave.
But, they'll be back, next Hallows Eve.

Brain Artichoke Dip

Here's what you need:

8 oz cream cheese (softened)
12 oz mozzarella cheese (shredded)
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
1 small onion (finely chopped)
2 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
2 small jars marinated artichokes (drained well)
Crackers, pita chips, or bread to serve with it.

How to make it:

Preheat oven to 350˚F.
Mix all ingredients, except crackers/chips/bread.
Bake in oven for 30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Let cool a few minutes, serve warm with crackers, chips, or bread.
* Or to make it a brain, brush some red food coloring into the crevasses of a plastic brain mold to make it look bloody.
Then scoop cooled artichoke dip into the plastic prepared bloody brain mold.
Once cooled enough, flip brain mold onto a platter and serve with crackers, chips, or bread.

WOW! Where did October go??

I don't know about you, but did October seem like it just flew by?  I have been soooo busy with all these fall festivities I have barely had time to blog! Craziness right! So, here's all the fun stuff we did for October all in one post!!
We had a Weekend of FUN with some wonderful visitors,
Will & Erica (the kiddo's Godparents)

We actually got a some what decent family picture!

I found these spooky Crayola Crayons and cooking book for Liam!

Of course, I couldn't get just one, I had to get all 8!!

We made our Halloween Spooktacular Skeleton Cards

We visited our favorite Cupcake Shop Let Them Eat Cake
for some Bootiful Halloween cupcakes

The Brains of the family

We dressed the kiddos up in their Halloween costumes
and took them to the Mesilla Park Fall Festival.
Liam was Darth Vader and Kinley was Princess Leia

Liam fishing for some candy and prizes

Then they tried some bowling.
Kinley just wanted to grab the pins.

While Liam and daddy played some games,
she was having a BALL in the ball pit!

We enjoyed some chili dogs and corn dogs from Wienerschnitzel!

With it being fall season, pumpkin flavored food is EVERYWHERE!
I found this Pumpkin Spice Caramel Dip that Liam and I had for
afternoon snack time! It was really good!

Liam and I had some fun creating spooky pictures on PicMonkey

And Kinley had a little Harry Potter inspired photo shoot!
She is wearing her Potter shirt one of my friend's made her.

I made some regular (white, orange, and yellow) candy corn biscotti too!

This year instead of carving our pumpkin, we made it into Darth Vader.
We painted the pumpkin black and used some pumpkin push-ins.

Darth Vader hopes you had a Fang-Tastic Halloween!

The Great Pumpkin stopped by our house while Liam was at school
and brought some fun Halloween surprises!

Can you guess the theme of this year's Halloween costume???

I was going to be R2D2, so I painted my nails blue, white, glittery polishes and
put on the Holographic Nail Wraps from Jamberry.

This year we headed over to a friend's house for some
spooky snacks and then Trick-or-Treating!
I made these Brain Cupcakes to take over!

The Force is strong between these two!
