Game Time!

A baby shower wouldn't be complete unless there were some fun games to play.  I've played my fair share of baby shower games so I knew I wanted something new to play.

For the Pickle Game, our guests just wrote their guess on how many pickles were in the jar and their name on a piece of paper.  After the shower, we counted them up, there were 15!  The closest guess was 19 and she won the jar of pickles!

I know it's not technically a game, but mom came up with the idea of having every guest sign a birthday card for every year Camden till he's 18!  So every year my sister can present him with a special birthday card from someone at her shower and then put it in his baby book for a keepsake.

After everyone had signed the birthday cards, we moved on to the Pregnancy So Sweet game.  I gave everyone 1 minute to match the baby words to a corresponding type of candy.  The winner got 10 out of 12! Way to go! She won a huge bag of all the candies listed on this game! Hope she has a sweet tooth!

I save the BEST game for last!  BABY JEOPARDY ! My sister and I are huge fans of the television show, so I thought it would be a fun game to play for a baby shower with baby related items as the answers.  I even included a Final Jeopardy. Alicia's team won, they only wagered $1 in final Jeopardy! Each member of the team took home a little baggy of lotion and body wash.

Everyone got really involved and had a great time playing!

Pregnancy So Sweet Baby Game

Project #6: For the baby shower I wanted to have at least 3 games to for the guests to play.  So, I came up with another game, Pregnancy So Sweet.  It's really simple, the guests have 30 seconds to match the Pregnancy terms to the corresponding candies.  The guest with the most answers right wins a prize.

Here's what you need:

12x12 Scrapbook paper
Paper cutter
Pencils
Hold Puncher
Printed game sheets
Scrapbook paper adhesive stickers

Cut the 12x12in scrapbook paper in half.
(Can make 2 game sheets)

Type up the game on computer, print it out.
Trim the sides of the printed game sheet to fit on the scrapbook paper,
leaving extra room on the left side.

Attach some scrapbook adhesive stickers to the back of the printed game sheet and stick to the scrapbook paper.
Trim off the excess scrapbook paper.

Punch two holes in the scrapbook paper in the extra space to the left.
Slide a sharpened pencil into the holes (I didn't sharpen mine for the demo)

There ya go, another fun baby shower game to play, equipped with game sheet and writing utensil!

Baby Jeopardy Shower Game

Project #5 : Over the years I have been to and hosted many baby showers and we always tend to play the same shower games.  This time around I wanted something fun and different that I have never done before.  So, I got this idea to play Baby Jeopardy.  The mom-to-be LOVES the T.V. show Jeopardy, so I know she will have a blast playing this version with her friends.  I came up with different fun categories that relate to baby in some way.  Then I came up with answers and questions.  Of course, the contestants will have to answer with "What is..."

Since there will be six categories, you need to write the point amounts of 100, 200, 500, 1000, and 2000 on six Post-It notes.  (6 - 100 on the yellow, 6 - 200 on the orange, 6 - 500 on the pink, 6 - 1000 on purple, and 6 - 2000 on the blue).

Write the "questions" on the back of the Post-Its with the number amounts on it.

To create the board, line up the Post-It notes vertically, this way you can determine the spacing between each of them.
Then use a ruler to draw a line vertically down, measure the width of the column and continue drawing the five remaining columns, making sure they are evenly spaced and straight with enough room that each Post-It note with fit.

Do the same for the horizontal lines, line up the six Post-It notes across the bottom of the board.  Measure out the spacing, draw the line across.
Work upward, drawing more lines making boxes for 4 other Post-It notes, since there is only five point amounts.
Make sure to leave enough space on top to write the categories titles.

Here's what is should look like.

Start placing the numbered Post-It notes and an additional blank Post-It note in the boxes, starting with the 100's, working going across, then onto the 200's, etc.
On the second blank Post-It note, write the "answer" to the "What is" question that was written on the backs of the numbered Post-It notes.
To complete the board, write the correct corresponding category titles to the answers on the Post-It notes at the top about the columns.

Here's what the competed Baby Jeopardy board should look like.

To include Final Jeopardy, pick a catagory, answer, and question.
Write it all on another Post-It and seal it in an envelope for after the board session of the game.
I just Googled Pregnancy trivia and found an interesting fact to use.
Which team has the most points win the game and will each be given a prize.

Looking forward to playing this with all the ladies!

Money $ense

The other day I was browsing around the Dollar Tree for some fun projects like finger paints, large paper pads, activity books, then I came across some fun but educational games.  I found this one for learning about counting and matching different amounts of money.  Since we have introduced Liam to earning money to buy his own toys, I thought this was perfect.  So today, we went outside to play a round of Money Match Up while Kinley played with her toy piggy bank.

It got a little windy, so we headed in early today.
Hope tomorrow isn't as windy so we can enjoy the warm weather longer!
